Event Report
Chimpanzee Tanabata Festival@Kumamoto Sanctuary This year’s Tanabata event was scheduled right after the rainy season. However, the rainy season came late this year. There was constant news of events being rained on in other prefectures, and there was heavy rain forecasted on the day of the event as well. Luckily, when the event started, there was only light rain, which quickly cleared up. Both chimpanzees and humans only got slightly wet. We wrote our wishes on pieces of bread, and the first bread to get eaten would have its wish come true. One of us will marry a famous Japanese actor soon! At the first sign of the feast, the chimpanzees
came out with great excitement. Naoya and Norio kissed, as if they had
to share the joy with each other. Gorou was so excited to see so many
people, he shook the bamboo with tremendous vigour. Shoubou and others
started to eat, and were soon completely drenched by water droplets
falling from the bamboo above. Mizuo performed a rhythmic display as
he got more and more excited.
